PRITTY, John W.S. C.D. W/O Retired (Militia) - His battle done, as he passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord, Friday April 25th, at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Hospital in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of “Babs” nee McBurnie for 58 years. Father to Thomas (Janice) Pritty of Fonthill, dear Dad to Wendy (Bruce) Astle of Thunder Bay. Predeceased by loved Son Christopher, 1997, and loved Son William, Christmas 2000. Brother to Dorothy Connors of Haliburton. Predeceased by brother Rodbert Pritty. Grandad to A.J. Astle, and Katelyn Pritty. Survived by many nieces, nephews and special niece Sally Kaylar. Brother-in-law to Joyce and the late Dougbert Hayward of St. Catharines and Pete McBurnie of Sunderland, and best cousins Shirley and David Hunt-Boase of St. Catharines. John was very proud of his Military Service of 35 years including the Militia and over seas to Britain-WWII, where he trained on the English Channel in Guerilla Warfare, joined the RCAF to become a pilot, passing all tests (except one)-couldn't equalize pressure. This was a life long disappointment to him. His Military Service started where he was born, in Regina, Saskatchewan, joined the Royal Durham Reg. at 16, having to wear WWI uniforms. While in England he coached the neighbourhood kids Canadian Softball, we do believe this helped the children relax after the fear of War. John was an Auditor for the Federal Government for 26 years, retiring in 1980. In respect and a promise made there will not be a visitation. However, there will be a Service of Committal, at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery, where he will rest in perfect peace beside our two sons Chris and Bill, on Monday May 5th, 2008 at 2 p.m. Refreshments will follow at Grace United Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations of one's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family, and may be made through the NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 415 Regent Street.
