ROGERS, Hugh Peacefully on Monday, October 11, 2004 at the Sun Parlor Home in Leamington at the age of 94 years. Beloved husband for 65 years of Helen (nee Long). Loving father of Gord and wife Joan of Chatham, Carol and husband Al of Ancaster and Bruce and wife Patty of Chatham. Cherished grandfather of Lori, Todd, Kristy, Scott, Paul, Matthew, Steven, and Kathryn. Dearest great grandfather of 12. Loving brother of Margaret Lewis (nee Rogers) and husband Jack. Predeceased by eight sisters, Pearl Dalton, Lena Balkwill, Mina Johnson, Verna Sanford, Erma Brundage, Jean Comrie, Ora Stevenson and Norma Ferguson and one brother Glen Rogers. Survived by 2 brothers-in-law Garnet Stevenson and Murray Ferguson and one sister-in-law Evelyn Rogers and numerous nieces and nephews. Hugh was very active in politics in the 1970's and became Reeve of the former Municipality of Gosfield South and later Warden of the former Essex County. He was very involved in the Epworth United Church. He will be sadly missed by friends and relatives. A special thanks goes out to the many staff at Kingsville Court and the Sun Parlor Home. Resting at the C. Stuart Sykes Funeral Home, 91 Division St. S., Kingsville from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral Service from Epworth United Church, Kingsville on Thursday, October 14th at 11 a.m. Rev. Colin Swan officiating. Interment in Greenhill Cemetery, Kingsville. Memorial donations to Epworth United Church or the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Published in the Windsor Star on 10/13/2004.
