RIPKU, Nettie 2008-05-26 On Friday, May 23, 2008, Mrs. Nettie Ripku returned to the arms of our Lord. Nettie was born on January 23, 1933 in Inchkeith, Saskatchewan. In 1941, her family moved to Brandon, Manitoba. She attended St. Michael‘s Academy, and in 1946 they relocated again to Port Arthur where she attended P.A.C.I. and King‘s Business College. Nettie met the love of her life Joe, and they were married May 17, 1952. Nettie was a devoted wife and mother, spending time with her family was her first priority. Nettie had a beautiful singing voice and was a longtime member of the Corpus Christi Adult Choir. Nettie and Joe worked as a team on their many construction and development projects. Their passion was travelling, and they have many fond memories of tropical holidays. Their generosity was evident through their continued support of many different charities over the years. She always supported her grandchildren, whether it was teaching them to swim or watching them play hockey. She was a shining example to them. Sadly missed by her loving husband of 56 years, Joe, children Lynne (Paul) Facca, Lorraine (Mike) Schlereth, Debbie (Bill) Komar, Joe Jr. (Cheryl), grandchildren Tina, Paola, Mitchell, Travis, Kayla, Adam, Tyler, Lauren, great grandchildren Emily, Abagail, Isabella, sister Lorraine (Albin) Anderson. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for the late Mrs. Nettie Ripku will be held on Friday, May 30, 2008 with family and friends gathering at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM celebrated by Fr. Richard Kowalchuk. Visitation for friends will be on Thursday evening after 6:00 PM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma, with the Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00 PM. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Should friends so desire, donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association, or the Dew Drop Inn would be greatly appreciated.
