SENECHAL, Charles Edward Charles Edward Senechal died peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Monday, May 19th, 2008 at the age of 93 years. He had been a resident of Ottawa since 1961. Charles "Charlie" was born in Campbellton, NB, the son of Hermenigilde Senechal and Eugenie Cloutier, both originally from the village of Baie des Sables on the Gaspe Penninsula. Charlie served with the Carleton York Regiment of the Canadian Army in World War II from 1940 to 1945. After the war, he worked in the Veterans' Land Act Branch of the Dept. of Veterans' Affairs until his retirement in 1974. Following retirement, he devoted himself to caring for the needs of his family and friends. Charlie was the last living member of his siblings: his sister Blanche, and his brothers Emile, Alphonse, and Wilfred. He is loved and deeply mourned by his life-long love and wife, Mary, whom he married in 1935. He is survived also by three daughters, Arda Connors, Rosalie Brideau, and Roxanne Richardson, his son Ronald, seven grandchildren, Christina, John, Jacqueline, Jason, Lynda, Sharon, and Rachel, and by five great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Grace, Helena, Teagan, and Travian. Charlie was a kind, loving, humble person with a profound faith in God. His family were blessed to have him. They will always miss him. Sincere thanks to the Queensway Carleton Hospital staff for their sensitive care.
