CASSIDY, Joseph Gerald 2008-06-19 CASSIDY It is with broken hearts the family announces the passing of Mr. Joseph Gerald Cassidy, age 41 years of Thunder Bay. Joe passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Monday, June 16, 2008, with his family and friends by his side. Joe was born January 23rd 1967 in Port Arthur, at the Port Arthur General Hospital. Joe attended St. Andrew’s School, St. Ignatius School, later graduating from Lakeview High School in 1985. Joe was employed with the Lakehead District Public School Board as a custodian for over 20 years; he loved his job and the people with whom he worked. As a boy, Joe developed a love of sports that continued throughout his life. He loved to play hockey, soccer, basketball and football. Joe had an infectious personality; when you met him you instantly liked him. He was honest, kind and caring, which is evident in the many friendships he made. Above all else Joe loved being a dad; he was the greatest dad to his son Tyler, the love of his life. Together they spent their time fishing and camping, attending Ty‘s hockey and soccer games, watching movies and just hanging out. Joe was so very proud of his “Ty-Man. Joe was a great son who loved his mom and dad dearly, and a better brother could not have been had. Joe will be forever missed by his son Tyler (mother Lisa Cassidy), parents Robert and Margaret Cassidy, brothers John , Brian (Barbara), sisters Helen, Ann Margaret (Jody ), nephews: Robert, Adam , Kyle , Anson, Jordan, Kirren, Cameron, Kevin, Justin , Aiden and niece Katie. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, special friends Angie, Steve and Hee-Ah, Donny and Liz will also miss Joe dearly. Joe was predeceased by his grandparents John and Helen Cassidy, Alexander and Molly Moore, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral Services for the late Joe Cassidy will be held at 12:00 NOON on Saturday, June 21st, 2008 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla, V.G. of St. Patrick‘s Cathedral. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the time of Service. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Joe‘s memory to the Joseph Cassidy Memorial Athletic Award, c/o Apple Community Credit Union, 406 North Cumberland Street, Thunder Bay.
