EVERS, Major John Frederick: Veteran of WW II; R.C.A.F. - John Frederick Evers, in hospital Perth, with his family by his side, after a long valiant struggle with Parkinson's Disease, on Saturday, June 14, 2008, in his 84th year. Jack Evers, son of the late Seaman Milton Evers and Agnes Mae Crichton. Dearly beloved husband and soulmate of Pauline Margaret (née Macdonald) of Sharbot Lake, Ontario. Cherished and loved father of; Peggy (Patrick) McQuaid of Stittsville, ON; Thomas (Judith-Ann) of Montreal, QC, and by first marriage Nancy Evers; Judith (Dr. Robert) Fowler of Bristol, England; and William (Angela) of Kitchener, ON. Sadly missed by his grandchildren; Dr. Keri Evers, and Jay Evers, Michael (Ali) and Kevin Fowler, and Derek, Rob and Bill Evers (Jr.), as well as Amanda and Joel Evers, and great-grandchildren; Emma and Thomas Fowler. Jack was the much loved brother of Matilda (late Jim) Brent of Sarnia, ON; and Dorothy (Jack) Galloway of Chatham, ON, and dear brother in law to Ruth of Chatham, ON, and Jane of Sarnia, ON. He was predeceased by brothers Tom (late Nancy), Herb, and Bill, and his sister Ada (late David) Haggart. Jack will be remembered as a loving husband, companion, and best friend to Pauline. Their love stood the tests of time and lasted over 62 years. They always had each other, even through the toughest times as Pauline lovingly cared for Jack in their home. After serving his country with the R.C.A.F. during WW II, Jack was asked to stay on with the R.C.A.F., where he eventually received his degree as an Aeronautics Engineer. Among Jack's many career highlights was the opportunity to collaborate in the design of the fail-safe electrical system for the famous Avro Arrow airplane. Truly, Jack had accomplished much in his life. He held the position of Commanding Officer of one of the training schools located at Camp Borden during the late 1960's to early 1970's. Yet, all of these accomplishments paled in comparison to the love Jack had for his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; he was always so generous with his time, his talents, his heart and his love, lending a hand with many of his children's projects, such as the design and construction of patio decks to the beautiful one of a kind horseback riding arena that he and his wife, helped his daughter Peggy build, so that she could enjoy horseback riding in the inclement weather. By request of the family, visitation and funeral arrangements are private. Cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Great War Memorial Hospital for their compassion and outstanding care and concern for Jack, and his family during his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations to the Parkinson's Society of Canada- Ottawa Chapter, or the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to O'DACRE FAMILY FUNERAL HOME INC., Perth. You may wish to send your condolences on the web at www.odacrefamily.ca 11130402
