LYSNES (Fikis), Sandie 2008-06-26 Mrs. Sandie Lysnes (Fikis) passed away in St. Joseph’s Hospice, on Wednesday, June 25, 2008. She was born with her sister Debbie on the 5th of August 1953 in Beardmore, Ontario. After education from Claude Garton School and Lakeview High School, she started her lifetime career in the Insurance business. She was the Branch Manager of both the local Royal Insurance Company and Dominion of Canada, until their movement out of the city. She then taught insurance for Co-Operators throughout Northwestern Ontario, finally working for ING until she could no longer work. She married her lifetime Chum on November 23, 1973 to begin almost 35 years of true love and companionship. Her love of both Little Sam and Hershey spilled over to all animals she encountered her whole life. Together with her husband Kjell they operated Sterling Machine Works, the family business, until her death. Her love of people and family was always evident through her bubbly personality and sparkling smile. Trips with family and friends to the U.S. were especially important to her, as well as not missing a single casino on the way. Old car events and races were always a two person happening with Sandie and Kjell and her beer purse. She was predeceased by her father Michael Fikis, brother-in-law Raymond Larocque, brother Mike "Buddy" Fikis, brother-in-law Errol Smith, sister-in-law Eileen Fikis, step Dad Peter Friesen, sister-in-law Peggy Fikis, great nephew Skyler Leblanc, brother Rod Fikis and in-laws Irene and Sterling Lysnes and Little Sam. Sandie is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband Kjell and Hershey, mother Bonnie Fikis, sisters Debbie Gladu (Paul), Judy Larocque (John McInnes), Beverly Fikis, brother Kenny Fikis (Cara), sister-in-law Caroline Cameron-Fikis, sister-in-law Randi Cameron (Bob). Numerous loved nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 11:00 am in the First Church United, with Rev. Janice Stevenson officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday, evening, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel. If friends desire, memorials to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society or the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated. Her unbelievable fight against cancer finally came to an end with all the people she loved and cared for by her side at the time she chose to go. Till death do we part, we will reunite again. Love Kjell A tree will be planted in memory of Sandie Lysnes in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 28, 2009.
