Terrance Philip Valen HORBAL

VALEN, Terrance Philip (nee Horbal) February 14, 1938 - March 13, 2008 Our loving husband, papa, and friend went to be with our Lord after an inspirational twenty-four year battle against cancer, at the Rosedale Hospice on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the age of 70 years. Terry is survived by his loving wife Linda of thirty-five years; four children, Pamela (Curtis) Hill, Valerie Valen, Darren (Lori) Valen and Lisa (Jason) Kooy; his cherished grandchildren, Wayne (Priscilla), Melissa (Johnathan) Levi, Tia-lin and Emily as well as two great-grandchildren, Haley and Nicolas. Terry is also survived by his brothers, Mitchell (Helen) Horbal, Victor Warren, Bob (Louise) Horbal, Alex Horbal, and his sisters, Marge (Bob) Mitchel, Carolyn (Neil) Mork, Nancy (Doug) Carrit, Helen Spencer and Sylvia (Roger) Robinson as well as many nieces and nephews. Terry was born Taras Philip Horbal in Radway, Alberta. His parents Philip and Stella Horbal raised him and his nine siblings in Redwater, Alberta. At fourteen years of age, Terry served in the Air Force Squadron No. 524 in Abbotsford, B.C. for five years. Terry then made his residence in Fort St. John between 1956 and 1961, where he changed his name to Terry Valen. Since then Terry has settled in Calgary. For forty-one years he was a diligent employee at the Balzac Gas Plant. Known to some of his friends as "Boss". He was a supervisor for many of those years at Canadian Occidental, now owned by Nexen. We would like to thank the outstanding staff and volunteers at the Rosedale Hospice for the loving care they have provided for our beloved Terry. We would like to send a special thank you to Marie our angel, a volunteer. Marie's faith and special touch calmed and soothed Terry when things were rough.
