Fred SCHRIE

SCHRIE, Fred Born in Pembroke on June 11, 1926, Fred passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Margery (nee Redford), loving father of Fred (Lynda), Norm (Joanne), and Maggie (Phil LeMay), proud grandfather of Jennifer, Laura, Katie and Ben and great-grandson, Brandon. Son of Henry Schrie and Mary Suckow, both deceased. He is survived by his sister, Lillian Mezo, the last of his 14 siblings. Fred had a distinguished 32-year career in the Canadian Army Service Corp, and served in Japan and Korea during the Korean War. He will be greatly missed for his humour, his kindness and most of all for the love that he showed us all so openly. The family would like to thank the staff of the Ottawa General Hospital for their care and compassion. Friends and family are invited to pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home on Walkley Rd. Sunday, July 13 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service Monday, July 14 to St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Sparks St at 11a.m. In honour of Fred's generous spirit, please consider making a donation to the Ottawa Mission or the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
