Bette HOLDER

HANDLEY, Bette “Betebu“ (nee Holder) - Peacefully after a short, courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness we announce Bette's passing on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at St. Catharines General Hospital in her 71st year. Wife of Dave, loving mother of Frankie (Stacey), Jim (Sally) and Bonnie, dear Nana of T.J., Dallas and Briar, Nina and Eric and great Nana of Aires and Cameron. Beloved sister of Cathy (Roger) Racine. Will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother William Whitwell Jr., Phyllis, Matthew, Stanley, Victor, Donald, Doreen and her parents Vern Holder and Marceline Sabourin Whitwell Holder. She will be missed by all her friends in Florida where she spent part of her winters. Bette was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, she was a member Royal Canadian Legion Branch #17 and the ladies auxiliary, a member of Canadian Corp Unit 44 and past president with the auxiliary. The family will receive friends at the HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Thursday, July 17 from 7-9 pm and Friday, July 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be held at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church (21 Queen St., S., Thorold) on Saturday, July 19 at 11:00 am. Cremation to follow. If so desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. 11168489
