VAN DER MAELEN, Robert - Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008 in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Mary-Jane for over 55 years. Loving father of Bob (Trisha). Devoted grandfather of Jaime-Lynn (Jordan) and Alexis. Loving brother-in-law of Marcel (Maria), Romain (Yolanda) and Anny (the late Alphons). He is survived by one brother Etienne (Mary-Christine), one sister Simonne (the late Alphons) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends will be received at the HILL & ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 30 Nelson St. on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. Cremation will follow. Donations to the Dialysis Unit at the Brantford General Hospital, or Operation Lift would be appreciated. The Van Der Maelen family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the doctors, especially Dr. Carlisle and the staff at the Brantford General Hospital Dialysis Unit, and their wonderful friends and neighbors who have done so much for them over the past few years, while Robert was sick.
