LATIMER, Lois Audrey (nee Kennedy) Peacefully, in her own home, as were her wishes, with her daughter and grandson at her side, on Friday, August 8, 2008, at the age of 84 years. Lois was the devoted and loving wife of Robert George Latimer for 55 years and will be greatly missed by him. Loving mother of Cheryl Gervais and Tracey Latimer, who shared the privilege of caring for their mother and will also miss her very much. Lois was predeceased by daughter Sharon McEwen (nee Sinclair), father John A. Kennedy, mother Harriet Kennedy (nee McArthur), mother-in-law Agnes Latimer, siblings Shirley Brooks, Marjorie Markell, and Bob Kennedy, grandchildren Ryan McEwen, Courtney Krusch, and great-granddaughter Julie Brugmans. Lois is survived by brothers Gerry Kennedy (Jackie), and Ron Kennedy (Mary), beloved grandsons Tyler and Brayden Krusch, granddaughters Christine Brugmans and Lori Cameron and great-granddaughter Rebecca Brugmans. Also survived by Sharon's three daughters Erica, Robyn and Stacey and their families, and Lori's daughter Meghann and several nieces and nephews. Lois was an avid fisherman, gardener, reader, debater of politics, purveyor of advice to her family, an enthusiastic and ardent supporter of all her family's endeavours, a loyal, forward-thinker, tirelss energetic hard-worker who eventually was persuaded to slow down and did so reluctantly. She will long be remembered for her toughness and stubbornness in facing her illness. The family would like to thank Dr. Jacques Lemelin, nurses from We Care and At Home Hospice, the Champlain Community Care Access Centre and Elisabth Bruyere Pain and Symptom Management team for their excellent care of Lois. If there is a kitchen table and a pot of coffee brewing in Heaven, we hope Lois re-unites with her baby sister Marj and they resume their laugh-filled gab sessions they so enjoyed every summer at their cottages at Crosby Lake. Friends and family are invited to gather at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt) on Tuesday from 3:00 pm until time of service, celebrating Lois' life, in the Chaple at 4:00 pm.
