Evelyn Ruby MCLETCHIE

NYBERG, Evelyn Ruby Was born on June 29, 1913 in Alexandria, Scotland and passed away on July 31, 2008 in Gateby Intermediate Care Residence, Vernon, BC, having reached the age of 95 years. Evelyn will be lovingly remembered by two sisters-in-law, Noeline McLetchie of Vernon, B.C. and Aileen McLetchie of Gilford, New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews in Canada, the USA, England and Scotland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Nyberg and four brothers, David McLetchie, Leslie McLetchie, Norman McLetchie and Charles McLetchie. Evelyn was a Public Health Nurse in Scotland prior to coming to Canada in 1961. She continued on in her chosen career, working as a Public Health Supervisor in Calgary for fifteen years. In 1976 she moved to Vernon where she was very active in community organizations such as the Sons Of Scotland, the Coldstream Women's Institute and Trinity United Church where she loved singing in the church choir. Cremation preceded a Celebration of Evelyn's Life which will be held at Trinity United Church in Vernon on Friday, August 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Mrs. Sheila Odney officiating. Evelyn was a great lover of animals so as an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in her memory to the SPCA.
