SAMMONS, Joanne (Michener) - It is with deep sadness that the family of Joanne Sammons (Michener) announce her passing peacefully, at home, in the loving arms of her family on Sunday, August 3rd in her 75th year. Cherished wife of Lloyd Sammons. Loving mother of Susan and Martin Whitehead, Jon Sammons, Sandra and Dan O'Hara, Mary Jo and Jim Sidwell and Elizabeth and Brian Harris. Precious Nana of Beth, Jonathan and Adam Whitehead, Christopher and Alexandra Sammons, Jenna, Lucas, Patrick and Taylor O'Hara, Joshua and Mariah Sidwell and Jacob, Sam, Jamie and Cole Harris. Much loved sister of Jane Hurtubise and her husband Robert, David Michener and the late Dale Michener. Dear sister-in-law of Bonnie Clark, Wanda Michener and Donna Sammons Nash. Devoted daughter of the late Ila and Beulah Michener. Aunt Jo will be sadly missed by her many treasured nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends, as well as her dear nursing roommates and colleagues from Hamilton General Hospital. Joanne took great pride in her family's accomplishments. Her biggest passion, though, was always her grandchildren. She loved them all fiercely and proudly and devoted countless hours to following their many endeavours, attending games and concerts, and bragging about their achievements. Those who have known her since her youngest grandson's birth will never forget her delight in sharing Cole's many outrageous escapades. Jo would want to be remembered most as the wonderful Nana she was, for that is her legacy to all of us. The family will be forever grateful to the many friends and relatives who have so lovingly and selflessly enriched Jo's life over the years. We would also like to thank the staffs of LRCC, LHSC, CACC and VON for their kind and compassionate care. A memorial service to celebrate Joanne's life will take place at 1o'clock on Wednesday, August 6th at Mount Zion United Church. In place of visitation, all are welcome to join Jo's family at a reception at 2:30 p.m. at the Highland Country Club. If desired, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She was deeply loved, she loved us all and she will be forever in our hearts. As our precious Cole said at age 3, “It's ridiculous how much you love me.“ 11188964
