Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre Marjatta passed away peacefully on August 9th, 2008 at Cairnsmore Place, Duncan, B.C. She was pre-deceased by her husband Toivo of 51 years, siblings and parents. Marjatta will be missed by daughters Tuija (Rod) (Calgary), and Liisa (Duncan), grandchildren Ariel and Tristan, and extended family in Finland. Marjatta was born in Ii, Finland, December 22, 1918. She met Toivo in Finland and they married in 1942, before immigrating to Canada with their daughter Tuija in the early 1950’s. Marjatta enjoyed working at the Weldon Library at UWO in London, Ontario where the family settled. Marjatta loved nature, books and music and is fondly remembered for her sense of humour, her “sisu” and her sweet nature. The family would like to thank all those who helped care for her in her last years: her dedicated friends, neighbours and the Continuing Care Team in London, the staff at Alpenrose Manor, the Cowichan District Hospital, and Cairnsmore Place in Duncan, BC.
