Roy MINA

Mina 2008-08-17 Mr. Roy Mina age 78 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away at St. Joseph‘s Hospice surrounded by family after a long, courageous battle with Cancer on Aug. 14, 2008. Born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario to Giuseppina and Vittorio Mina. Roy moved to Castegnero, Italy as a young child and later returned to Fort William, where he met and married Evelyn Bortolon. He was employed at Knudson Painting and Great Lakes Paper, where he retired in 1994. He was a member of St. Agnes Church, Principe Di Piemonte Society, Trevisani Nel Mondo, Famee Furlane, and Local 39 of the C.E.P. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Evelyn (nee Bortolon). His children Marianne Schoales (Clyde), Rob (Lisa), Ron (Rita), Donna Webb (Mark). Grandchildren Tyler, Landon, Mallory, Vanessa, Jordan, Jessica, Kirstin, Ashleigh. Siblings Irma Pretto (Severino), Annie Michieli (Angelo), Romano, sister-in-law Dina in Italy and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother Giuseppina, his father Vittorio, his brother Italo and sister-in-law Nancy. Prayers will be offered Monday, August 18, 2008 7:00pm at St. Agnes Church. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, when family and friends will gather for the f Funeral Mass at St. Agnes Church at 10:00am. Private family interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Roy has asked that donations be made to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation. A tree will be planted in memory of Roy Mina in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 28, 2009.
