MARTIN, Joe - Peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer Joe Martin passed away August 14, 2008 at the age of 56. He is pre-deceased by his parents Leona and Fred Martin and brother Freddy. He will be sadly missed by his wife and soul mate Caroline and loving children Pieter (Petra) of France, Jelle (Friedel), and Lotte (Michael) of Belgium. Grandpa Joe cherished his grandsons Thibau of Belgium and (twins) Luis and Matteo of France. Dear brother of Eleanor (Duke) Harris, Nora Eldridge (Tussy Dunham), Delores Martin, nieces and nephews Kim (Brad) Drury, Carey Eldridge, Bill Eldridge, Jim Brown, Greg Brown and several great nieces and nephews. Joe lived a full but short life traveling North America and the world with Belgium becoming his most important destiny in the last 9 years. His life was even more enriched when he married Caroline in December 2007. Joe was a member of Local 663 and a member of the Point Edward Ex-Servicemen's Club in Point Edward. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Joe's life will be held in the Chapel of the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME on Friday, August 22nd at 1:00 p.m. with Angela MacDonald officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Eldridge, Tony Spina, Rick Powell, Bruce Mair, Mike Williamson and Rod Theriault. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 12:00 noon until time of service. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of choice (Cheques only please).
