KNAGGS, Marlayne Susan - Marlayne Knaggs passed away Sunday evening, August 24th, 2008 at the Owen Sound hospital, after a brave battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband and best friend, Robert; her daughters Kristen and Kendra and her son, Jeffrey. She is also survived by her parents, Gwen and A.C. Whiteside, her older brother, Terry and his wife Joyce, and her younger brother, David. We could tell you where she lived and worked and all those unimportant facts, but that is not who she was. She was many things in her life: a knitter of warm afghans, a baker of pumpkin pies and an avid reader. She was an expert of care packages, a healer of wounds, a crier at airports. She liked nothing more than the chance to two-step around a dance floor with her husband, Bob. When she laughed, which was often, she laughed loudly. Marlayne was a braider of hair, a Sunday morning singer, and she planted the most beautiful gardens. She was a good daughter. Marlayne loved her children fiercely. She expressed her intense pride in Kristen, Kendra and Jeff to everyone she knew. She was a caring sister, friend and colleague. She worked hard at everything she did with no exceptions. Her lasagna is second to none. Marlayne was, above all, a nurturer. She made sure those around her were warm, fed and loved. She was our home. A graveside service will take place at the Annan Cemetery on Friday, August 29th at 11:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Terry Fox Foundation in her name and may be made through the BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 - 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K-3X8 (519-376-7492). Messages of condolences may be sent to the family at brian@woodfuneralhome.ca 11215442
