JOLLIFFE, William T.E. (Bill) - 90, of Ottawa ON, born November 8, 1917, passed on peacefully, September 19, 2008, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Dad has left us for another plain to pursue his love of skiing, fishing and socializing. Born in North Battleford SK, Bill's prairie roots helped him learn of life's struggles and how to face them, of life's joys and how to embrace them, and of life's loves and how to nurture them. Always with charm, grace, care and love. Bill married Margaret Sankey in Fort William and got busy and produced their new son Bob. The three moved to Vancouver for Dad to serve with Boeing, and thence to Montreal, via Winnipeg with TCA, and finally to his ultimate challenge and marvelous accomplishments with Canadair Ltd. Later, in Montreal, he met and married his darling Menetta, who predeceased him in 2002. They enjoyed the daily life of work, gardening, skiing and travelling with a mutual care and concern remarkable to all who beheld it. A reward of this union was the expansion of Bill's family by his embracing his darling's wonderful three children. Indeed the family unified in a bond as strong as any blood relationship. Bill leaves younger brother Bob and his wife Jean of Kingston, and their 5 children and grandchildren. He also leaves his loving son Bob Jolliffe (Sandra Domine), now of Halifax, granddaughters Susan Deuchars and Leslie Jolliffe (Conner Steacy), and great-grandchildren, Susan's Devon, Emma Kate and Samuel, and Leslie's Emilie and Alexandre, all of Kingston, ON; Ella VanLaningham (Glenn) of Rochester, Minnesota, granddaughter Kate VanLaningham and great-grandsons, Dustin and Lucas; Hannah Mitchell of Minneapolis, Minnesota, granddaughters Heidi Niziolek (Dan) and Katrina Mitchell (Chuck Wazanowski) and great-grandchildren, Heidi's Madeline and Nicholas; Collin B. Brown (Shirley) of Los Angeles, California, grandchildren Woody Brown (Christa Ouimet), Meaghan Carter (Andrew) and Carl Sherbino (Michelle) and great-grandchildren, Meaghan's Griffin and Emmerson and Carl's Eric and Adam. Bill's wide array of other relatives and friends across the country will well remember his caring friendship and love of keeping in touch. We will all dearly miss Dad's warm broad smile, wavy blonde hair, twinkling blue eyes and charming, engaging and gentle demeanor. Dad requested that no funeral or memorial services be held for him. If you wish, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Condolences may be sent to bjolliffe@novusconsulting.com. 11247251
