Edith Viola STEVENS

SOPHA, Edith Viola (nee Stevens) - June 11th 1930 - September 8th, 2008 Edith (Edie) was a devoted, loving wife to Duncan Sopha, predeceased August 2001 (Estaire, Ontario). Edie was mother and mentor to Noreen Keens of Barrie, Rannah Sopha of Sudbury and Wendy McDowell (husband Pat) of Sanger, Texas. Proud grandmother of Angela Edith Brosseau (predeceased), Colin Worthy, Allison Wilson, Craig and Marcy Keens, and Matt Brosseau. Edie was great grandmother to Richard, Abby, Audrea, Nick, Kelsey and Kael. Edie's love and devotion to her family was foremost always. Edie was sister to Hazel Willard, Lillian Finnan, Agnes Stukas (predeceased), Shirley Gregory, Sheila Petterson and Stanley Stevens. Daughter of Stewart and Agnes Stevens (nee Fordyce) of New Liskeard. The majority of Edie's life was that of a hard working farm wife and wonderful mother. Her Scottish heritage was a source of pride and her highlander strength and courage guided her and her family through the difficult times. Noreen, Rannah and Wendy express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. John Smith and the staff of 4 North “C“ at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, for their care and compassion in our dear mother's time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honour can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Royal Victoria Hospital or the Royal Victorian Order of Nurses. Services are being held at SCOTT FUNERAL HOME, 264 Burton Ave., Barrie Ontario. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
