Lois Margaret BLAIS

BLAIS, Lois Margaret - (1938-2008). The family announces with sorrow the death of Lois at Marian Hospice, Vancouver, B.C. on August 31, 2008. She was the beloved wife of David Smith, Vancouver, much loved sister of Ronald Blais and nieces Rebecca Blais and Sandra Blais, all of Callander, ON; sister-in-law of Daniel Smith (Eileen), niece Julianne Smith of Vancouver and Sarah Walker (Len) of Toronto. She will be missed by many cousins and her large circle of friends. She was predeceased by her parents Homer and Florence Blais and sister-in-law Ruth Blais. Prior to entering St. Michael's School of Nursing in Toronto, she attended school in North Bay. During the years nursing at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver she obtained a BA and Masters in the Science of Nursing from the University of British Columbia. She was active in nursing ethics and the history of nursing. After retirement in 1999, Lois continued her service to others through the Health and Human Services of Continuing Studies at Langara College and was also involved as program director for seniors in the community along with writing a column for the Vancouver Courier. She was a devoted member of her church. A memorial service will take place on Friday, September 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m., Dunbar Heights United Church, 3525 West 24th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C.
