SMELSER, Ronald William - Peacefully at his home in Jarvis, surrounded by his family on Monday, September 8, 2008 after a brief battle with cancer, in his 68th year. Beloved husband for 32 years of Sandra (nee Meade). Loving father of Steve and Marcia Bartlett of Simcoe, Kevin and Mary Lou Bartlett of Aylmer and Angela and Americo Carvalho of Tillsonburg. Loving grandpa of Savannah, Christopher, Nicholas and Gregory Bartlett; Delaney, Tiago, Shaundalee and Dimitri Carvalho. Brother of Doug and Diane of Jarvis, Audrey and Gord Mitchell of Jarvis, Kay Edwards of Port Dover, Don of Simcoe, Peggy and Neil Pankhurst of Port Dover, Fred and Rose of Windham Centre and Brian and Marcia of Jarvis. Ron is survived by his parents-in-law, Gordon and Frances Meade of St. Williams and family and also by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Ivan and Viola Smelser. Ron retired from Union Gas after 39 years of service and was a member of the Canadian Drilling Rig Society. Friends are invited to call at COOPER FUNERAL HOME, 19 Talbot St. West, Jarvis on Wednesday 1:30 - 4 and 6:30 - 9 p.m. Funeral Service for Ron will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Main Street North, Jarvis on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at Knox Presbyterian Church Cemetery at a later date.
