Irene WALO

SCHAFER, Irene (nee Walo). Passed from this world peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2008 with her family beside her. She fought a courageous and inspiring battle against a lengthy illness. Irene leaves behind her loving husband Fred and her devoted sons Andrew (Dorothy) and Michael (Elena), as well as her brother Henry, her sister Janina and many friends in Montreal, Ottawa, and Vancouver. Irene's caring and nurturing character was felt by many and was best embodied in her two passions - gardening and cooking for her family and friends. Irene will be sorely missed by many. Family will receive friends on Friday, August 29, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Rd., Ottawa). Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Parish (44 Rothesay Drive, Kanata). A reception will follow the inurnment at Pinecrest Remembrance Services. The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses that helped Irene, especially in her final days. Special thanks go to Dr. Amjadi for his compassion and dedicated care.
