FOGOLIN, Adella Mary(Kerr) 2008-09-10 Beloved wife, mother, nona, sister and auntie, Adella Mary Fogolin (Kerr) passed peacefully at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital after a brief illness on Sunday September 7, 2008, at 84 years of age. Della was born on May 16, 1924 in Port Arthur, Ontario to Elsie and William Kerr. She spent her early childhood years with her family in Barwick, Ontario. The family later moved to Thunder Bay where she met and fell in love with her future husband John. Together they raised 5 beautiful children. She enjoyed the winter months bowling and watching her children and grandchildren play hockey. The summers were sent at their camp at Hicks Lake enjoying the warmth of the wood stove and peacefulness of the lake. Della was a devoted wife and mother. As her family grew, Della cherished her grandchildren. She would caringly knit delicate baby clothes, hats, mitts and socks for them. Della was an exceptional cook. She would have risotto ready on Sundays at noon for her family and would make incredible spreads of perogies, gnocchi, turkey... for the holidays. In their retirement years, Della and John would look forward to enjoying to warm winters vacationing in Mesa, Arizona. Della excelled in her penmen ship skills and would caringly write detailed letters to stay in touch with family and friends. Della was a caring and loyal friend - her door was always open to come in for a cup of tea or coffee. Above all, Della loved being surrounded by her family and was incredibly proud of all their accomplishments. Della is survived by her children: Evie (Gary), Reggie (Betty-Ann), Johnny (Sherry), Linda (Bill), Bobby (Colleen) 11 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother Doug (Marlene) and many nieces and nephews. Della was predeceased by her husband, John; her parents Elsie and William Kerr; sister Pearl; and brother Ken. Della‘s warmth, listening ear, sense of humour and love will be greatly missed by all. A special thank you to the staff of 1A (nurses, physicians) at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital for the providing comfort and giving exceptional care to Della in her final days. Also, a special thank you to the staff of Blue Heron in Pinewood Court for taking such good care and forming warm relationships with Della during this past year. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Donations to The Arthritis Society, in Della‘s memory, would be greatly appreciated.
