SUNDELL, Clarence 2008-09-12 It is with extreme sadness that the family of Gus Sundell, aged 79 years, announces his passing on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 with his family by his side. Gus was born on March 7th, 1929 in Port Arthur. He spent his early years in Nipigon until his family moved to Thunder Bay (Port Arthur) after his father‘s passing. Gus met Norma Bishop and they married in 1949. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 18th, 2009. Gus started working at 14 years old in order to provide for his widowed mother and siblings. He worked at Boyle Bros. Diamond Drilling for 16 years and later at W.H. Marr and Vulcan Machinery. During the 1970’s, Gus worked with his son Terry in their own excavation business, retiring in 1987. Gus‘ first love was his wife Norma and his family. Many special years were also shared with friends at Helma Lake, Hawkeye Lake family camp, Mount Baldy, fishing, hunting or just around the family supper table talking about the next adventure or just about the good old days. In retirement, Gus and Norma enjoyed 18 wonderful years at their winter residence in Florida, sharing many different activities with new friends and family. Gus was predeceased by his parents Nils and Beatrice Sundell, sister Betty Desilets, brother Lorne Sundell, mother in law Nance Bishop and brother in law Raymond Bishop, son in law Rob Weldon, Brother in law Willie Busch and nephew Alfred Desilet.
