James Hugh RITCHIE

RITCHIE, James Hugh - Passed away peacefully at the Sara Vista Nursing Centre, Elmvale on Saturday, September 20, 2008. Hugh was born & lived for 86 years on the Ritchie ancestoral farm on the 10th concession of Flos. He spent the last five months of his life in the loving compassionate care of the health professionals at Sara Vista, Elmvale. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Jean Hobson. Dear father of Joan (Dr. Al) Bowness of Port Perry, Cheryl (Art) Van Laarhoven of Minesing, Susan (Roger) Harrop of Fergus, Glen (Barbara) Ritchie and Doug (Noreen) Ritchie all of Elmvale and Lisa (Wayne) Goodfellow of Glencairn. Lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Brother of Mildred Hewson and the late Elgin and Earl Ritchie. (Hugh served on the first school board to represent School area # 1, served on the Elmvale District High School Board until 1969, Elected to Flos Council in 82, 85, 88 and 91 & served 1 year on Springwater transition council, former President of Elmvale Minor Hockey, 60 + years with the I.O.O.F. and Honourary Director of the Flos Agricultural Society). Friends may call at the LYNN-STONE FUNERAL HOME, Elmvale from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Service at Elmvale Presbyterian Church on Monday, September 22 at 1:30 p.m. Interment Elmvale Cemetery.
