Joyce Elaine BASS

deHAAN, Joyce Elaine (nee Bass) October 16, 1945 - September 4, 2008 After an inspiring fight with Breast Cancer for twenty-three years, Joyce passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2008. She is survived by her husband, Nick of forty-five years, and her sons Brent (Heather), and Brian (Alanna) and her beloved grandchildren, Jesse, William, Michael, and Aiden. She is also survived by her parents, Joe and Sevy Bass of Calgary and siblings Wayne (Joan) Bass of Oakville, Ont., Brian Bass of Calgary, Sharon Schultz (Elmer - deceased) of Red Deer, and Wendy (Lauritz) Rasmussen of Chilliwack, BC. Joyce had a tremendous ability to make everyone feel that they were the most important person in the room when in her presence. She always had time for her friends and family - often comforting them through her health struggles. We have lost a remarkable woman, with unfailing determination and strength - a wife, Mother, Grannie/Nannie, Sister, Auntie and dear friend that will forever live in our hearts and memories. Many thanks to all of the care professionals at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, and the Chinook Hospice for their kindness and support, as well as all of Joyce's Angel Network.
