William ATKINSON

ATKINSON, William (Bill) 1924 - 2008 On Monday Sept.8, 2008, the world lost a wise and gentle man. A man of great dignity, honesty, and consistent sincerity. Always a patient gentleman, respected by co-workers and by all who knew him, with a quiet sense of humour and an appreciation of God's beauty around him. Bill was a man to be truly emulated. Faithful family man and husband of fifty years to Helen Lorraine (nee Grand) and patient and devoted father to Virginia "Ginny" (Brian) and Peter (Michelle), and proud grandfather of Scott. Thoughtful fatherly companion to many four-legged "family" members. A special uncle to Janni (Bob) and several other nieces and nephews in Western Canada and Overseas. Bill was especially appreciative of dear friends Michael, Mal and Bob. Born in England, Bill was a World War II veteran, serving in the British Royal Navy as a Decoder. Special thanks to the exceptional care and kindness provided by the A3 nursing staff of the Queensway Carleton Hospital and the generous understanding and genuine care of Dr. Morin who helped Bill pass on with dignity and peace as he wished.
