Gagne, Gerard (Gerry) (RCAF Captain, ret.) Passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 11, 2008, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his beloved wife Karen and his eldest son Michael. Survived by his children Annette McCleave, Lise Edwards, Andree Gagne, and Mark Gagne. Lovingly remembered by his surviving brothers and sisters Madeleine, Laurent, Colette, Charles, Denis, Lise, Michel, Claire, Pierre and Suzanne. Sadly missed by his granddaughters Taylor, Lauren and Stephanie. Gerry's life was defined by his love of family and his service to community and country, which he embraced with passion and unflagging joie de vivre. A dedicated officer in the RCAF, he proudly served as a fighter pilot during the cold war and later as a Search and Rescue helicopter pilot. Upon retiring from the military, he continued his love of aviation as a flight safety inspector with Transport Canada. He will forever be remembered for his generosity, can-do attitude, and community spirit. To the caring doctors, nurses and support staff of the Palliative Care Outreach Program, We Care, In Home Hospice and Home Instead, we offer our heartfelt thanks. A Service in remembrance of Gerry's life will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 20th at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, with visiting hours from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Palliative Care Outreach Program would be greatly appreciated.
