KLIPPERT, Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Pedder) September 24, 1918 - October 21, 2008 Elizabeth "Betty" Klippert (nee Pedder) passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary. From her birthplace of Lancaster, England, "Betty" immigrated as a child to Belleville, ON where, during the Second World War, she met an athletic young RCAF Airman, Merton Klippert. Married in 1943, Betty came west in peacetime to Calgary with her soulmate to raise a family whom she loved with every fiber of her being. Her heart was dedicated to her Lord, her family and the less fortunate of this world. Betty and Merton were founding members of the Christine Meikle School because she loved all special children and understood their needs. Both were active in Crescent Heights Baptist Church where Betty sang in the choir and experienced the fellowship of the JOY (Just Older Youth) Group. Although "Gram" seldom sought the limelight, she had a great impact on all who sought her guidance and counsel as a valiant prayer-warrior. Elizabeth will be deeply missed by her loving daughter, Lorraine and her husband Laurence Johnson of Calgary; her very special son Merton Klippert Jr. of Red Deer, AB; sister Ruth Baird of Nepean, ON; grandchildren, Mike Johnson of Calgary and Carolyn Johnson and fiance Will Keith of Calmar, AB. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Merton. We will always remember "Gram's" little jokes, her excitement over receiving even the most humble of gifts and the genuine and unconditional love she had for each of us. A Memorial Service to celebrate Elizabeth's Life will be held at Crescent Heights Baptist Church (1212 - 1 Street N.W.) on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . In living memory of Betty Klippert, a tree will be planted at Fletcher Park, Airdrie by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH. Telephone: 403-276-2296. Published in the Calgary Herald from 10/23/2008- 10/24/2008
