LEACH, Martha (nee Lowe) - A private family funeral was held on Friday October 31, 2008 at 1:00pm for Martha Leach who passed peacefully at Manitoulin Lodge in Gore Bay, ON., in her 100th year. Loving wife of 72 years to the late Harold Leach (2000). Much loved and respected Mom to the late Elsie Hare (2002) and husband Jack, the late Lionel (2000) and Ann (2007) Leach, Len and Dolores Leach, Gloria and Les Osborne, Brian and Muriel Leach, Sandra and Rick Cuthbertson, Lillian and Ken McConnell and decreased infant daughter Patricia (1953). Grandma to 29, Great-Grandma to 59, and Great-Great- Grandma to 26. Martha was born on September 22, 1909 in Wigan England and immigrated to Canada at age 10. Martha was an athlete as a girl and this continued into her 80's, playing golf and baseball with her grandchildren. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching baseball, hockey, golf, and football. Ahead of her times with her forward thinking, she was an entrepreneur running her own business as well as helping with her husband's company. Eventually Harold and Martha moved to Oro-Medonte and lived there 40 years until it was time for nursing care. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to CARSON FUNERAL HOMES. Interment at Knox Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Oro-Medonte. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Soldier's Memorial Hospital Building Fund.
