Giovanni PALERMO

PALERMO, Giovanni “John” Palermo - passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Monday, November 10, 2008 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Petronilla (nee Cimino). Loving father of Mario, Marianne Macdonald and her husband Ron, Tony and Gino and his wife Wendy all of Welland. He will be lovingly remembered by his 5 grandchildren Angie, Emily, Sharon, Rebecca and Olivia and great granddaughter Aaliyah. Giovanni is survived by his brother Santo (Fiorina) of Australia, sisters Rosina (Nicola Vaccaro) and Raffaella (Giovanni Paola) of Italy and sisters Eugenia (Michele) of Australia and Teresa (Fiore Stranges) of Niagara Falls. He was predeceased by his parents Natale and Maria and brothers Nicola and Vincenzo in Italy. Giovanni was born in Conflenti, Catanzaro, Italy and came to Canada in 1956. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and worked at Page Hersey from 1967 until his retirement in 1995. The family will receive their friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a Vigil will be held at 2 o'clock. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
