LANE, Pauline Rebecca (nee Meredith). After a long period of declining health, Pauline (Paulie) Lane passed away peacefully in Guelph, Ontario on Sunday November 2, 2008. She was the devoted wife of Lloyd (Tubby) Lane who pre-deceased her in 1977, and the loving mother of Pamela Rowe (Ian) of St. Peter's Harbour, PEI, and Melanie Stark (Charles) of Guelph, Ontario. Born on July 15, 1921 in Cookshire, Quebec to Thomas and Myrtle Meredith, Paulie grew up in a caring family with two brothers, Roland Meredith (Norma) of Island Pond, Vermont, and Frederic Meredith (Anna) of Green Valley, Ontario, and one sister Olive Meredith (Deceased). Paulie lived in Cookshire and Ste. Therese-en-Haut, Quebec for the majority of her life. Several years after her husband's death, Paulie moved to Alexandria, Ontario. She was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, most notably the branch in Alexandria, where she will be missed by her many friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Elliott Home in Guelph for their many kindnesses during her stay there. Following cremation, a small family burial service will be held where her ashes will be laid to rest beside her husband, in the Malvern Cemetery in Lennoxville Quebec. The date and time is still to be determined. Donations in Paulie's name can be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Published in the Montreal Gazette on 11/8/2008
