Mr. William 'Willie' Henry Cooper July 7, 1913 - October 23, 2008 - William Henry Cooper With sadness his family announces the death of William ‘Willie’ Henry Cooper at the age of 95 years on Thursday, October 23, 2008 in Saskatoon. Willie was born on July 7, 1913 in Leicester, England, the son of William and Ethel Cooper. In 1922 he and his mother joined his father who had emigrated two years earlier to tape up a homestead 17 miles northeast of Kenaston, SK. Willie grew up there and in 1938 married Phyllis Wilson. They had five children, the oldest of whom died as a baby. The others were Herbert, Ronald, Kenneth, and Joyce. Willie and Phyllis farmed west of Kenaston until they retired in town, eventually moving to Luther Tower in Saskatoon in 1989. Following Phyllis’ death, Willie married Myrtle (Nelson) Frostad. Willie’s love was family and farm. However he was active in the community, served on the Wyandote School Board and as a Director of the Dairy Pool in Saskatoon. As a retiree Willie enjoyed life in Luther Tower and volunteered to help with many in-house activities. Willie was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Phyllis; an infant son; and his daughter, Joyce Hill. Left to mourn are his sons, Herbert Cooper of Victoria, BC, Ronald (Venice) Cooper of William’s Lake, BC, Kenneth (Susan) Cooper of Hammon, ON; son-in-law, Rick Hill of Summerland, BC; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Also left to mourn are his wife, Myrtle; and four step-children: Dena Grue of Camrose, AB, Petrine Edwards of Barrier, BC, Peter Frostad of Buena Vista, SK, and Kristine Oudot of Victoria, BC. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK officiated by Rev. Harold Hesje and Rev. Heather Anderson. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Donations in Willie’s memory may be made to the Luther Special Care Home, 1212 Osler Street, Saskatoon, SK, S7N 0T9.
