Ruby ROY

Mrs. Ruby Lynch December 30, 1933 - November 21, 2008 - 74, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Newcastle, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Mary (Carew) Roy. Ruby's proudest accomplishment was raising her five children, Chris Lynch (Jane), Dartmouth; Sheila Rhyno (Alan), Fall River; Brenda Penny (Ronald), Dartmouth; Ronald Lynch (Barbara), Dartmouth; and Maureen Herchak (Glenn), Calgary. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Reginald, and is survived by her brother, Robert Roy (Margaret), Ottawa and her sister Shirley Langford, North Bay. Ruby spent many years working at the Nova Scotia Housing Commission. From the tender age of 17 and throughout her life, Ruby overcame many serious health challenges with both strength and determination. "Nanny" will be fondly remembered by her nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Ruby's life will be held on Thursday, November 27, at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Windmill Road in Dartmouth, with a reception to follow. Cremation has already taken place and there will be no visitation. Donations in memory of Ruby may be made to the QEII Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
