DECHERT, Erwin John Erwin John Dechert left us suddenly on December 3, 2008 to join his loving wife Uschi. Our Papa and Opa of 86 years, died peacefully in his sleep leaving behind his children Yvonne (Heinz), Thomas (Carmen), and grandchildren Alexander, Naomi, Nicole and Eric. John will always be remembered for his many, many years in the travel business with P. Lawson Travel, retiring in 1990. He treasured the many friends and acquaintances he made along life's journey. John had a cheerful nature and his numerous stories about his travels, life experiences and collection of jokes, always found a willing ear. John's exceptional knowledge of other countries gave many families the counsel and advice necessary to reunite with loved ones separated by distance. He took quiet pride in knowing that he was able to help so many and easily found a common bond with everyone that he met. Now that John has completed his final journey, he will be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2M 3A5 (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to Hospice Calgary Society, No. 900, 833 - 4 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2P 3T5. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to Foster's Garden Chapel or electronically at www.remembering.ca . We thought of you with love today, but this is nothing new, we thought of you yesterday and the days before that too. We think of you in silence and often speak your name. All we have now are our memories, and your picture in a frame. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone. A part of us went with you the day God took you home.
