Mary Josephine DOWLE

NEWTON, Mary "Joie" Josephine (nee Dowle). Joie passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2008 at the age of ninety-two. She was born on the island of Bermuda, along with her twin sister Jean, to the late Pierre Dowle and wife Lottie. Joie married Max Newton (deceased) who would later become art director of Weekend Magazine and the Montreal Star. With her sister, she was able to travel to the South Pacific, Europe, and sail the east coast of North America from Maine to Florida and back to Bermuda. She was born on an island paradise and, with her passing, she will now enter another paradise. Both her sons John and Michael were with her at the end and would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at The Manoir Lac Brome for their support. A memorial will be held at The Manoir Lac Brome on Saturday, December 20 at 2 p.m. Published in the Montreal Gazette on 12/11/2008
