Frances SHIPWAY

FARRANT, Frances (Skip) - July 28, 1922 - January 6, 2009 - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frances (Skip) Farrant, aged 86, on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Pinewood Court, with her daughters by her side. Frances was born in Stanstead, Quebec on July 28, 1922 and joined the RCAF in 1943 (Women’s Division) stationed in Torbay, Newfoundland as a wireless operator where she met her future husband Earl Farrant from Fort William. They married in 1945 and following the war came to Fort William to raise their 4 children. Skip enjoyed the outdoors spending many happy summers camping at Pass Lake with the resident “Camp Cop”. Mom will be remembered for her quick wit, wicked sense of humour, endearing smile, infectious giggle and most importantly being our soft place to fall. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by son Rick Farrant, Kipling, Sask. (here), daughter Joanne (Vic) Bobinski, Thunder Bay, daughter Laurie (Todd) Solomon, Toronto (here), and son Scott Farrant, Thunder Bay. Grandchildren Rick (Stacie) Farrant, Leslie (Willie) VanSolkema (enroute), Krista (Rob) Miller, Olivia Solomon, Jessica Dromisky and Jarod Farrant. Great Grandchildren, Callum Farrant, Robert Lipka, Steven and Brooklyn Hitchman and Kourtney Miller. Also surviving, nephew Stephen Shipway of Sherbrooke, Quebec. Predeceased by husband Earl, parents John and Alice Shipway, brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Claire Shipway, aunt, Florence Eves. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2009 when family and friends will gather at Jenkens Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Judie Cooper. If friends so desire, donations to Pinewood Court Family Council or the charity of their choice would be greatly appreciated. A private interment will be held at a later date.
