McCURRIE, Dorine The family of Dorine McCurrie announce with sadness the death of their Aunt and Sister-in-law on January 7, 2009 at the Prince of Wales Manor. Dorine was the only daughter of the late Charles P. McCurrie and Rose G. Daley, of Ottawa, and sister of the late Major Charles J. McCurrie, RCAF, of St. Catharines. She was the dear Aunt of Coleen Myers (Fred) of Willis, Texas, Nina Darrell (James) of Brantford, Ontario, Diane Mitchell (Allan) of London, Ontario and Patrick McCurrie (Susan) of St. Catharines, Ontario. Also surviving her are her Sister-in-law, Marguerite McCurrie of St. Catharines, Ontario, 5 Great Nieces, 4 Great Nephews and 3 Great Great Nieces. Dorine was born and raised in Ottawa. She had many interests but her two great loves were her music and her church. Dorine graduated from the Faculty of Music (University of Toronto) and the Royal Conservatory of Music and went on to study voice under the direction of Pauline Bartholdy-Mendelssohn (Ottawa) and Dr. Frank LaForge (New York City). She was a well known singer and performed many concerts including three soloist appearances with the Ottawa Philharmonic Orchestra. Dorine was also a very active member in various ministries in her church, particularly in the CWL and the St. George's Funeral Choir. She is resting at Kelly Funeral Home, 585 Somerset Street West, Ottawa. Visitation will be on January 11, 2009 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. George's Roman Catholic Church, 415 Piccadilly Avenue, Ottawa, on January 12, 2009 at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the family plot at Notre Dame Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation (737 Parkdale Ave., Ottawa, K1Y 1J8) or to St. Vincent's Hospital Services Foundation (43 Bruyere St., Ottawa, K1N 5C8).
