Maria Ada MONTALBETTI

Macchi 2009-01-25 Mrs. Maria Ada Macchi, age 95 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on Friday, January 23, 2009, with her family by her side. Maria was born in Villadosia, Varese, Italy on September 19, 1913. She was married to Pietro Macchi and he predeceased her in 1982. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Ladies Auxilary to the Principe di Piemonte. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting and family life meant the most. Her grandchildren were always very important part of her life. Maria is survived by her sons Angelo, and Gino (Patricia) Macchi, grandchildren Andrea, Daniel, Kate (Lynette, Jordan and Morgan) and sister Renata Fugazza, in Italy. Nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive, here and in France and Italy. Maria was predeceased by her parents Angelo and Guiseppina Montalbetti, husband Pietro and a brother in infancy. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 when family and friends will gather for the Funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Cathedral at 12:00pm celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Vigil prayers will be offered on Monday, evening at 7:00pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel. If friends desire, memorials to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, George Jeffrey Centre to help crippled children or the CNIB would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Maria Macchi in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 27, 2010.
