MARSHALL, William Anthony - Sadly, the family of Bill announces his passing at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Tuesday, January 27th at the age of 66. Loving husband of Dianne for 45 years. He will be deeply missed by his children Todd (Carla) and Cathy (Dave) Roy. Proud grandfather of Matthew and Jacob Roy and Zachary and Zoe Marshall. Brother of Michael (Val) Marshall and Janice (Jim) Marshall. He will be sadly missed by his brothers-in-law Harry (Anne) and Paul (Barbara) Rusling, mother-in-law Kathleen Rusling, and step-mother Helen Marshall. Also survived by 2 nieces, 2 nephews and 2 grand-nephews. Predeceased by his mother Betty Marshall, his father Norm Marshall, and his father-in-law Harry Rusling. Bill was born in and raised in Welland, Ontario and attended Welland High School, Hamilton Teachers College and Brock University. Bill was a dedicated and respected teacher for 35 years with the District School Board of Niagara. He spent most of his teaching years at McKay Senior Public School, and later at Dewitt Carter Public School. Bill finished his career at Caroline M. Thompson Public School. His many students provided a “captive“ audience for his talent for telling great stories. Bill was always involved in many sports throughout his life, playing both baseball and hockey for many years and later enjoying both as a spectator. He was a long-time member of the Port Colborne Country Club and was proud of his 2 holes in one. Bill and his dog Willie enjoyed watching many Leafs games together and Granddad was successful in passing along the “Leaf-Fan“ gene to his children and grandchildren. A private family funeral has already taken place with interment at Oakwood Cemetery. A celebration of Bill's life will take place at a later date. If so desired, donations to The Lung Association would be greatly appreciated by the family.
