Persis AHRENS

FLEURY, PERSIS -- Died February 19, 2005 at Lutheran Hospital. She was born in Brainard, MN on February 20, 1923 to Richard and Anice Ahrens. Persis quit Colorado College during WWII to teach our guys how to fly using Link trainers. There she met and married Pete Hummel and settled in Chatsworth, CA to raise a family. In 1958, after a second marriage, the family moved to Golden, CO. Persis held down various jobs, finally retiring after 30 years from the Rocky Mountain News at the age of 70. She is survived by her sons Richard Ahrens of San Jose, CA; Jeff Fleury of Golden; and daughter Karen Healey of Eaton, CO.
