CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Mayo Benoit, 83, who passed away peacefully at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at his residence in Carencro surrounded by his family and friends.Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro.The Rev. Willard Dugas will officiate at the services.Mr. Benoit was a native of Vatican and a lifelong resident of the Carencro-Lafayette area. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.Survivors include his wife, Nell Rose Dugas Benoit, of Carencro; one daughter, Martha Ellen Bonin and her husband, Phemon "Booger", of Carencro; one son, Michael Joseph Benoit, of Lafayette; one granddaughter, Danielle Conrad Thibodeaux, and her husband, James, of Carencro; grandson, Jansen Michael Benoit, of Scott; great-grandson, Kaaryn Dean Thibodeaux; one brother, Leseus Benoit and his wife, Gussie, of Vatican; half sister, Joyce Credeur, and her husband, Lessin, of Lafayette; two half-brothers, Levanis Benoit, of Lafayette, and Paul Benoit, of Alexandria; and several nieces and nephewsHe was preceded in death by his parents, Apolinaire Benoit and the former Edmonia Landry; and by one sister, Ernestine Benoit Hernandez.A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.Visitation was observed from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8 a.m. until service time today.The family wishes to express special thanks to the many friends, relatives, and neighbors for their love and support given during Mr. Benoit's illness. Special thanks are also extended to the doctors and staff of Hospice of Acadiana, especially Mildred and Debi, for their tender care of Mr. Benoit.Pallbearers will be Jansen Michael Benoit, James Dean Thibodeaux, Jerry Benoit, Terry Benoit, Dalbert Dean Hebert, and Joby Hebert.Honorary pallbearers will be Phemon Bonin, Elmo Ancelet, Woodrow Guidry, A.
