LAFAYETTE - Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Bertha Robert, 82, the former Bertha Bower, who passed away at 10:38 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2005, in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.Entombment will be in Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery Mausoleum.The Rev. Monsignor J. Douglas Courville, JCL, pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Musical selections for the funeral Mass will be "On Eagles' Wings", "Ave Maria", "Amazing Grace" and "J'irai la voir un jour".Survivors include her husband, Luke Robert, of Lafayette; two daughters, June Gardiner and her husband, George B. Gardiner, of Maurice, La. and Camella "Kim" Vercher, of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren, Lisa Kay Duhon, Troy Gardiner, Corey Gardiner, Sonya M. Adams and Lindsey Vercher; seven great-grandchildren, Spencer and Victoria Duhon, Candace and Mackenzie Gardiner, Mallie K. Gardiner, Ashleigh and Alexis Adams; and one sister, Anna Mae Duhon.She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Artemise Breaux Bower; one son-in-law, Dennis Vercher; brothers, Edgar Bower and Edward Bower; sisters, Elodie B. Owen, Emily Guinn, Amelia Racca and Phil Broussard; half-brothers, Albert Bower, Raoul Bower, Fernand Bower and Gustave Bower; and half-sisters, Edmondia S. Clement, Anita B. Hollier and Ida B. Granger.A native and resident of Lafayette for 82 years, Mrs. Robert was a member of the St. Jules Christian Community. She enjoyed sewing and observing her various camellia trees.She was also a member of the American Legion Auxillary No. 133 of Breaux Bridge.A rosary will prayed at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home.The family requested visiting hours be observed from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Monday until time of the services.Pallbearers will be Troy Gardiner, Corey Gardiner, Keith Duhon, Joey Lagneaux, Andre Broussard and Johnny Bower.Honorary pallbearers will be George B.
