CARRIERE Edward E. "De" Carriere, age 99 of New Orleans, died January 14, 2005, in Dallas, Texas. He was married for 57 years to the late Ursula Meyers Carriere of New Orleans. They were members of Saint Rita's Church for more than 30 years. He served three years in the Armed Forces during WWII, then in the Army Reserves, retiring with the rank of Colonel. He graduated from LSU in 1929 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. While attending LSU, he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, President of the Panhellenic, and a member of the Scabbard and Blade. In 1937 he graduated from Loyola School of Law, and was a member of the Louisiana Bar for more than 50 years. He was a member of the American Society of Military Engineers and worked as an attorney with the Army Corps of Engineers from 1929 to 1960, serving in New Orleans, Washington, New York City, and Dallas, where he retired as Chief, Office of the Counsel Southwestern Division. He was a member of the Engineer Board of Contract Appeals which resolved Corps of Engineer contract disputes worldwide. His portrait hangs in the Gallery of Distinguished Employees, Southwestern Division, Corps of Engineers, Dallas, Texas. After his retirement from the Corps of Engineers, he was a real estate agent in New Orleans for the next twenty years. He is survived by his sons, Edward E. Carriere, Jr. of Decatur, Ga., and Michael J. Carriere of Dallas, Tx., two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his daughter Andree Carriere D'Amico of Laguna Niguel, Ca., sisters Amanda Carriere Adams and Olive Marie Carriere, and brother Judge Oliver Provosty Carriere. The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of the Visiting Nurses Association, Hospice Program of Collin County, Texas, for their support and the compassionate care of our beloved family member. A wake will be held on January 22, 2005 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home from 12 - 2 p.m., with services at 2:00 PM in the chapel.
