James L. CARRIVEAU Born August 8, 1936 in Seattle, died March 5, 2005 of congestive heart failure at Valley Medical Center in Renton. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and son - we were blessed to have him in our lives. Jim grew up in Ballard, attended Central Washington College and went to work for Boeing. He enjoyed a 38-year career there, retiring in 1994 as Director of Facilities - Fabrication Division. At Boeing, he met his wife of 42 years, Fran, and made many valued friendships. Through the years, Jim's volunteer activities included coaching Renton Little League Baseball and Jr. League Talbot hill Football, served as a Loaned Executive to United Way through Boeing and, after retirement, he served on the Catholic Community Services So. King County Advisory Council and Catholic Community Services Advisory Board. Jim loved golf and had been a long time member of Fairwood Golf and Country Club. In retirement, he and Fran traveled when his health allowed and continued the annual family vacation at Lake Chelan, a 35-year tradition. In 1994, Jim lost a lung to cancer and for the next eleven years courageously dealt with the health problems that followed. Through it all, he never lost his wonderful sense of humor and kind heart. We are grateful to his doctors who gave us the eleven year gift of time with him and to all those who kept him in their thoughts and prayers in the difficult times. Jim is survived by his wife Fran, son Michael Carriveau, daughter Sharon Malo, son-in-law Todd Malo, grandsons Mason and Keaton Malo and 91-year-old mother Nora DuCette. He will always be in our hearts. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 11th, at St. Stephen The Martyr Church, 13055 SE 192nd St., Renton, WA. Private interment at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Medic One, 325 9th Ave. Seattle, WA 98104, Catholic Community Services, So. King County Chapter, PO Box 398, Kent, WA 98035-039 or favorite charity. Published in print on 3/9/2005.
