Edward J. CLAIRMONT

COHOES Edward J. (Ted) Clairmont, died Sunday, August 7, 2005 at the Samaritan Hospital, Troy, N.Y., after a lengthy illness. Born in Cohoes, son of the late Arthur J. and Elizabeth Rigney Clairmont. Ted was educated at St. Bernard's Academy and graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy. He was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church, was an usher and a member of the former Holy Name Society. Ted owned and operated Clairmont's Tavern on Remsen Street, Cohoes since 1966 when he assumed ownership from his Dad, who started the business in 1934. Ted is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rita Chieco Clairmont of Cohoes; two daughters, Linda Sears of Lansingburgh, Susan Clairmont Antoniak of Clifton Park; brother of Mrs. Marlyn (Joseph) Mosca of Rochester, N.Y., J. Donald Clairmont of Cohoes, William (Jean) Clairmont of Rotterdam and the late Arthur J. Clairmont; grandfather of Jason (Sharon) Huneau of Latham, Michael Sears, Lori (Gavin) Williams, all of Calif.; also survived by four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. from the Dufresne Funeral Home, 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes, N.Y., thence to St. Bernard's Church where at 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made, in memory of Ted, to the American Heart Association.
