GUEYDAN - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at St. Peter Catholic Church of Gueydan for Willa Mae Broussard, 84, who died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at Savoy Medical Center.Interment will be in Gueydan Cemetery.The Rev. Mitchell Guidry will conduct the service.Mrs. Broussard was a native of Crowley and a resident of Gueydan. She loved to do cross stitching and reading. She attended St. Peter Catholic Church of Gueydan and made Cursillo. She enjoyed dancing and eating at Belazaire's Restaurant.Survivors include one son, Darlan Ray Benoit and his wife, Luther, of Basile; three grandchildren, Lisa Benoit Thibodeaux and her husband, Glenn, of Lafayette, Debbie Benoit Boudreaux and her husband, Layne, of Lafayette, Mark Benoit and his wife, Chrissie, of Mire; and five great-grandchildren, Nicole Thibodeaux, Lindsay Boudreaux, Chad Thibodeaux, Hunter Benoit and Blair Boudreaux.She was preceded in death by her parents. Eloi and Amelia Plaisance Cormier; her husband, Clabie Broussard; and her brothers and sisters, Regina C. Hebert, Elton Cormier, Van Alfa "Black" Cormier, Alida C. Richard, Theola C. Simon and Elena C. Istre.Visitation will be observed from 10 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. today and will continue from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of service.A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. this evening in the funeral home.Special thanks to her niece, Kathy Roy, and the doctors and staff of Evangeline Extended Care Facility.Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Gueydan, (337) 536-9377, is in charge of arrangements.
