HARDWICK— Doris (Dansereau) Stolgitis, 88, of Gilbertville, passed away Sunday at her home. Born in Ware, she was the seventh of twelve children of George and Rosealma (Renaud) Dansereau. Crippled by a childhood accident at the age of four, Doris eventually came to walk only through the benevolence of the Shriners’ Hospital for Crippled Children in Springfield. Because of the Shriners' good works she was able to lead a happy and productive life. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by family and friends and being able to do kindness for others. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Vincent "Bill" Stolgitis; her daughter, Darlene Stolgitis Griffin, and her son Kenneth Stolgitis. Surviving are her sons and their wives, William and Helen Stolgitis of Avon, NJ and Donald and Linda Stolgitis of West Brookfield; also she leaves her daughter-in-law, Jill Stolgitis of Hardwick; her sisters, Juanita "Jean" Fargnoli of Barre and Estelle Butcher of Ware; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as many nephews and nieces. She was a communicant of St. Aloysius Church and was a member of the Gilbertville Golden Agers. Funeral services will be held on Thursday from the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., Ware, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Aloysius Church in Gilbertville. Burial will be in Quabbin Park Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in her name to the Hardwick Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 447, Gilbertville, MA 01031 or to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
