J. Lawrence DEVEAU

MILFORD - Mr. J. Lawrence Deveau, age 76, of Milford and formerly of Eastern CT, beloved husband for over 50 years to Barbara A. Houghton Deveau, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 in Milford Hospital. Son of the late Joseph Lawrence Deveau and Marie Jeanne Barthelet, he was born on March 19, 1929 in Jewett City. Mr. De-veau was an Executive with the Boy Scouts of America before his retirement. He was a past Nation-al President of the Coast Guard Academy Parents Association and past President of the Fox-wood Condominium Association, Milford, a U.S. Navy Veteran and he was an avid supporter of youth activities. In addition to his wife, Mr. De-veau is survived by four sons, James A. Deveau (Mary) of Paw-catuck, Commander Paul E. De-veau, USCG (Andrea) of Alameda, CA, David J. Deveau (Wendy) of Nashua, NH, Steven A. Deveau (Jenna) of Lorton, VA, two daugh-ters, Janine D. Benn (David) of Ashaway, RI, Catherine T. Rod-man (Rob) of Bradford, RI, eight-een grandchildren, two brothers, J. Leonard Deveau of Wyoming, RI, Robert Deveau of Danielson, two sisters, Gloria Tracey of Whit-ing NJ, Julie Rawson of Phonex-ville, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Marie McGarray Beale and a brother, George De-veau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 9 at 9 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford. Committal will be private. Friends may call on Fri-day from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America, 60 Darlin Street, P.O. Box 280098, East Hartford, CT 06128-0098.
